  • Where is Indian semiconductor industry headed? (Pradeep's Point! - Pradeep Chakraborty)

    Updated: 2011-05-30 12:59:00
It has been a pretty disappointing year for me, so far, owing to one or another family related problems. I’ve only flattered, to deceive, as one would put it! Not that I’m out of my troubles, but am sure I can ‘play my game as usual’, hopefully, without any further disruptions. First, I have been closely following the global semiconductor industry, despite my troubles, and there’s really nothing new worth reporting, at least, so far!  Hope the next month and the rest of the year are better! But first, my take on the Indian semiconductor industry, which has now started to disappoint! At least, yours truly!

  • Imec Produces 200mm CMOS-compatible GaN-on-Si Wafer

    Updated: 2011-05-27 17:49:06
Imec has developed device-quality wafers with GaN/AlGaN layers on 200mm silicon wafers. Functional GaN MISHEMTs were processed using standard CMOS tools by imec and their GaN industrial affiliation program (IIAP) partners. The used processes are compatible with the strict contamination rules in a standard CMOS processing line (without the use of gold). Read more: Imec [...]

Indium Corporation Semiconductor Power Semiconductor Assembly Visit Our Website Products Services About Contact Us Main INDIUM CORPORATION Blog From One Engineer to Another The Limits of Aqueous Flip-Chip Cleaning I Monday , May 16, 2011 by Andy Mackie Andy Mackie This post was prompted by a Korean customer , who this month asked what the limitations are for aqueous water-based cleaning for fluxes used in copper-pillar flip-chip applications . How low can the pitch get before aqueous cleaning becomes unfeasible impractical 40microns 20microns 5microns Good question . I don't have a definitive answer , nbsp but I do now have an industry consensus that seems to be consistent . I'll try to answer the query in a little while , but firstly , you've got to ask , What is aqueous' cleaning Is : it

  • Intel Makes Breakthrough with Three Dimensional Tri-Gate Transistors

    Updated: 2011-05-04 22:48:09
Intel announced a transistor breakthrough today. The company will manufacture the first transistors using a three-dimensional structure in high-volume production. The three-dimensional transistor, called Tri-Gate, will be used at the 22-nanometer node in an Intel Ivy Bridge microprocessor. The 3D Tri-Gate transistor is a revolutionary change from the current two-dimensional planar transistor structure used in [...]
